Polyxeni (Xenia) Kizgala graduated from the School of Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2014.
She has completed her rural service and five of the seven years of specialization in Pediatric Surgery, with training at the University General Hospital “Attikon” (General Surgery), the General Children’s Hospital “Agia Sofia” (Pediatric Surgery), and at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust (Pediatric Surgery).
She is currently enrolled in the Postgraduate Program (MSc) in “Minimally Invasive Surgery, Robotic Surgery, and Tele-Surgery” at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
A strong advocate for continuous education, in 2020 she completed a clinical observership at the Department of Surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital, covering the full spectrum of Pediatric Surgery and Fetal Surgery. She has also completed advanced training programs from NKUA (“Principles of Health Systems Organization”), the University of California, Universiteit Leiden, and Yale University, and has participated in clinical workshops conducted by Prof. Marc Levitt and the American College of Surgeons.
In 2018, she received recognition at the 31st European Annual Congress on Surgical Infections SIS – E/Olympics Case Reports.
